Program Description – Research Associate in Ag-Tech and Hydrogel Systems

The position in this research is conducting research into the interaction of high-level hydrogel science, plant biology, and sustainable agriculture. 

These research areas and key responsibilities are:

  • Hydrogel Formulation: Leading the pack in the innovation of natural formulations of hydrogel based on seaweed in the laboratory.
  • Field Research: carrying out research on hydrogel in both controlled and field environments.
  • Root System Dynamics: Exploring new approaches to root system measurements and water use dynamics of agricultural systems.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Initially, it is multidisciplinary teamwork with several institutions involved and the elaboration of sustainable agriculture and biological solutions.
  • Technology Development: The development of technologies with several further applications, especially in controlled conditions and in the field.
  • Novel Projects: The possibility to engage in various field-based projects that are new in their turn.

Qualifications – Research Associate in Ag-Tech and Hydrogel Systems

In order to be eligible to this critical research position, a candidate should possess the following minimum and desired. 

  • It requires a Master of degree in Plant Science, Crop Science, Agronomy, Botany, Plant Pathology or a very similar discipline.
  • Evidence of research experience in either a controlled setting or field study.
  • There should be good verbal and written skills in English.
  • Experience in data processing, statistical analysis, presentation of data and experimental design.
  • It will be advantageous to have the ability to work or interest in electronics or using various sensors.
  • The candidate is expected to have problem solving skills and willingness to make contribution towards the enhancement of the project and ability to collaborate with a multicultural population in different backgrounds.

Dr Sangu Angadi is a member of the faculty of the New Mexico State University in Clovis, Department of Plant and Environmental Science, as an Associate professor. His work is on the field of plant water relation research on various oil-seeds and pulse crops.
