The University of Trento (UniTrento) is offering a one-year fully funded Foundation Program for 10 international students from conflict zones.

This initiative provides a pathway for young people whose education has been interrupted by war, instability, or danger to continue their academic journey in a safe environment.

Position Description – Program in Italy for International Students from Conflict Zones

The University of Trento will offer a one-year Foundation Year to no more than ten international students. Each candidate will:

  • Participate in preparatory courses and individual university courses to potentially enroll in degree programs.
  • Enroll in the University Language Center’s English and Italian language classes.
  • Learn computer skills and other academic competencies that are necessary for success in college.
  • Subject to fulfilling the prerequisites for admission, students may apply to UniTrento’s Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programs for the 2026–2027 academic year after completing the Foundation Year.

Qualifications for International Students at the University of Trento

Candidates must fulfill each of the following prerequisites:

  • Be a national of a non-EU nation.
  • Must live somewhere other than Italy.
  • Must originate from a region afflicted by war.
  • Be unable to securely pursue higher education at this time because of conflict or instability.
  • Possess a degree that permits entrance to higher education in Italy or have completed at least 12 years of schooling.

Application Process for International Students at the University of Trento

To apply, candidates must prepare the following necessary documents:

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • A Copy of an identity document.
  • Academic transcripts
  • Evidence of a secondary or postsecondary education.
  • A motivational letter outlining the applicant’s background and motivations.
  • Language certifications
  • Other academic credentials are optional.
  • Candidates must fill out the application Form, which is available on the UniTrento website.

Selection Process

There are two steps in the selection process:

Document evaluation: Applications will be examined to verify eligibility and evaluate risk level, academic background, and motivation.

Interview (if necessary): Those who made the short list may be asked to participate in an online interview for additional evaluation.

The UniTrento “Students at Risk” webpage will display the final results. Additionally, an official email notification will be sent to the chosen candidates.
