Graduate Program at the University of British Columbia: The Department of Chemistry has officially opened its graduate applications for Fall 2026.
Motivated domestic and international students who meet the requirements are encouraged to submit their applications before the deadline in December 2025.
Selected students will join a collaborative, community-driven environment and conduct research across a wide range, including applied chemistry, biological chemistry, chemical synthesis, environmental chemistry, chemical analysis, materials chemistry, chemical physics, and theoretical chemistry.

Qualification for the Graduate Chemistry Program at the University of British Columbia

- Applicants must meet the minimum academic requirements. Not that the academic requirements vary based on the individual country.
- Applicants from institutions outside Canada where English is not the primary language must provide proof of English language proficiency. This can be TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), IELTS (International English Language Testing Service), CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language Assessment), UBC English Language Institute, PTE (Pearson Test of English – Academic), or any other Alternative Tests
Application Process – Graduate Chemistry Program at the University of British Columbia
To apply to UBC, you’ll need a Campus-Wide Login (CWL). You’ll need your CWL login and password to check the status of your application and access all of the University’s online systems while at UBC.
Applicants will not be permitted to submit multiple applications for the same program in the same session. This means that you will be unable to remove your current application and start a new one.
Applicants should, therefore, ensure that the information they put on the application form is correct and full.
Note that domestic and international applicants must have complete applications, including all reference letters.
