Fully Funded PhD in Organic Chemistry – Czech Republic: Applications are being accepted in the Faculty of Science at Charles University in Prague for a fully-funded PhD position in Organic Chemistry which will start in September or October 2026.
The program is part of a large-scale project aimed at creating new enantioselective reactions with N-heterocyclic carbenes, a sphere where a great momentum has acquired prominence in the pharmaceutical, agrochemical, and fine chemistry fields.
Students who are interested in asymmetric catalysis, organometallic chemistry, and reaction design will have an opportunity to receive a vibrant training experience in one of the most ancient scientific institutions in Europe.
Why Pursue a PhD at Charles University?
- Full Funding: The job will be structured to reimburse all the cost of living in Prague and therefore there will be security of financial stability during the program.
- High-Impact Research: In this project, novel patterns of reactivity are investigated with the help of N-heterocyclic carbenes a catalytic system that is reforming the history of enantioselective synthesis.
- Cooperative and Facilitating Learning: The students will be mentored, collaborate, and will be taught high-order techniques of organic chemistry.
Program Description – Fully Funded PhD in Organic Chemistry
The project focuses on the creation of novel enantioselective reactions by N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs). These catalysts serve as important reagents in the formation of optically pure molecules, and they have taken center stage to modern organocatalysis.
The PhD student will be part of the Group of Asymmetric Synthesis and will complete a research that is concentrated on:
- Design and Development of New Enantioselective reactions.
- Several new catalytic routes of generating carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bonds, diversifying the asymmetric synthesis.
- Theorizing Alternative Activation Modes.
- The student will also explore the new activation modes by using azolium or (di)enolate intermediates.
- Biomimetic Syntheses of Bio-Relevant and Structurally Complex Molecules.
- Making use of Contemporary Technology and Research Equipment.
Qualifications For Fully Funded PhD in Organic Chemistry at Charles University
