The British Council’s Women in STEM scholarship goal is to address this by providing fully funded, one-year master’s degree programmes at top-ranking universities and research institutions in the UK.

Program Description -British Council Women in STEM Scholarships
The British Council Women in STEM scholarship aims to provide more women with a chance to enter science, technology, engineering, and math. The program can make the workforce more diverse and equitable by supporting female leaders in those areas. This initiative will enrich innovation and research with numerous different opinions.
The scholarship will target women with disadvantaged backgrounds whose economic situation might be problematic. It pays the fee for one year ofthe degree, enabling the students to study fully.
For the 2026/2027 British Council Women in STEM Scholarships, the goal is to provide up to 90 scholarships to women across 30 countries. A list of participating universities and eligible countries/territories is provided on the scholarship page. Click here for details.
Qualifications for the British Council Women in STEM Scholarship
- Applicants must be women.
- Be a permanent resident of, and hold a valid passport from one of the eligible countries.
- Applicants must agree to return to their country of citizenship or residence for a minimum of two years after the scholarship ends.
- Meet the minimum entry requirement of the UK higher education institution for the course they apply for.
- Must have achieved an undergraduate degree at the time of submitting the application, or will attain the degree in time before enrolment.
- Be active in the STEM field with work experience or with a proven interest in the proposed subject area.
- Applicants must agree to maintain contact with the British Council and act as an ambassador for the UK.

- View details of the scholarships that are available to apply for.
- From there, visit the websites of the UK universities that partnered with the program and view the course(s) that you are interested in.
- Note that you can apply to more than one university, but you will need to apply to each university separately.
- Carefully read through the scholarship program, and provide/submit the necessary documents.
- After submitting, you will hear directly from the university about the status of your application.
