Overview – Study in Japan Scholarships
This is a prestigious scholarship that is open to foreign students studying or intending to study graduate (Master or Doctoral) level programmes in Japan. You can apply to the foundation regardless of whether you are in the country you are staying in at the moment or you are already in Japan, there is no pre-selection of universities. The program will attempt to nurture the best talents in the world in various fields of research.
Not that recipients of this scholarship cannot receive other scholarships simultaneously, except for the following approved programs:
- Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship
- Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship for Privately Financed International Students
- JSPS International Fellowship
- Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) Fellowship

Value and Duration – Study in Japan Scholarships
The scholarship provides the length of time you need to complete your degree and a monthly allowance depending on the length of the program:
¥230,000/month for 1-2 year programs
¥210,000/month for 3-year programs
¥180,000/month for programs longer than 3 years.
Screening & Selection Process – Study in Japan Scholarships
The process of selecting is in two phases:
- Document Screening: Judging with the presented papers, such as academic achievements and research prospects.
- Interview(s): The shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview (face-to-face or online).
The scholarship will be given to about 10 students in this round.
How to Apply

Access the online application system, fill out the digital application form, attach the necessary files, and submit a two-minute video. It is necessary for the candidate to discuss his or her research in the video.
The application number and a PDF of your application form will be generated after the materials are submitted. When the results are posted on the official website, the generated pdf will be needed to check the results, so don’t lose it!
